When I tell my friends that I’m into internet marketing, they think I’m into scamming people. Internet marketing doesn’t seem to have a good reputation. But I love what I do online, and I’d like to be able to use a term that is accurate but non threatening, when I describe to people what it is that I do.
What about some of the following recommendations?
Some quick suggestions:
- Internet Publishing
- Online Business
- Online Store
- Online Information Service
- Online Consultancy Service
- Online Training Service
- Web-based Business Centre
Or use the following formula to accurately reflect what it is that you are unfolding:-
First Word: Internet – Online – Web – Web-based – Blog – Blog-based
Second Word: Publishing – Store – Consultancy – Consulting – Training – Information – Teaching – Advisory – Business – Coaching – Trading – Retail
(hint: avoid using the word “marketing” which is the term that seems to have the bad rap and makes people defensive)
Third Word (if required): Business – Service – Centre – Consultancy
Don’t be pedantic about applying the above formula – it is meant to be an idea starter.
Then add any other descriptors that help people quickly identify what it is that you do – for instance “Online Dietary Consulting Service” or “Online Consulting Service For The Romantically Challenged”
